XChange’s 2nd market trading evolves from liquidity crisis

Matt Bowman’s post at AlwaysOn explains how the IPO market is in a drought due in part to an overinflated regulatory system. This is important to get, especially if you’ve been raised in the Silicon Valley (SV) way. Things are changing and this means we’ve got to realize that the previous formula is not working, at least right now. The ability for thought leaders to adapt and innovate new ways out of these constraints placed on Venture Capitalists (VC) is very SV. Let’s keep our eyes on them and hopefully learn some new rules, especially the part about VCs being a 2nd market customer. In addition, check out Matt’s video interview with Tim Draper and Thomas Foley on the birth of XChangemore@source

Entrepreneur vs Intraprenuer

A distinction between the two as outlined in Pathways to High-tech Valleys and Research Triangles are that entrepreneurs are considered to be self employed and intrapreneurs are corporate entrepreneurs. The myth of entrepreneur is recognizable as the charismatic and revolutionary visionary, but this is the exception and not the rule. Most of the time the entrepreneur is building the venture at a slow pace and s/he probably is a relatively ordinary person working long and hard on the business. The authors define of entrepreneurship is

Entrepreneurship is the ability to create and build something from practically nothing. It is initiating, doing, achieving and building an enterprise or organization, rather than just watching, analysing, or describing one.”
